Preview: Premier League Darts Night 16 – Sheffield

The Premier League of Darts heads to Sheffield on Thursday night for the final night of league action.

With the play-off spots already settled, can Luke Littler make history and get that seventh nightly win?

The final thing to be decided is who will finish third and who will finish fourth heading into finals night.

Match 1: Jonny Clayton vs Stephen Bunting

Jonny Clayton meets Stephen Bunting for the fifth time in the competition. The Ferret has won three of the four meetings; Bunting’s one win was the whitewash win in the Belfast semi-final where he picked up his only nightly win.

Clayton is guaranteed second spot, meaning he will play in the second semi-final at the O2 against whoever finishes third,

My prediction: Jonny Clayton 6-3 Stephen Bunting

Match 2:  Gerwyn Price vs Gian van Veen

In a repeat of last week’s semi-final Gerwyn Price takes on Gian van Veen. The pair have met six times this season with Price winning four and van Veen winning two.

The Welshman will be hunting down third spot, as fourth will meet the Nuke in the final. Price is winless against the 19-year-old in all six meetings in this year’s Premier League.

My prediction: Gerwyn Price 6-4 Gian van Veen

Match 3: Luke Littler vs Josh Rock

Top of the table Littler takes on bottom of the pile Josh Rock in the penultimate quarter-final tie. The Nuke has already recorded first place for the third successive campaign.

Despite ending his debut season bottom of the table, Rocky is the only player to hit a nine-darter so far. The Nuke has got the better of the Northern Ireland star in their two Premier League meetings.

My prediction: Luke Littler 6-2 Josh Rock

Match 4: Luke Humphries vs Michael van Gerwen

Luke Humphries takes on Michael van Gerwen in the final first round tie of the night. Cool Hand sealed qualification last week with his first nightly win of the campaign in Birmingham.

The Green Machine has only won one night this season, the first night in Newcastle. With both Humphries and Price sealing qualification last week MVG misses out on the O2 for the second year in a row.

My prediction: Luke Humphries 6-4 Michael van Gerwen
