Luke Humphries picks up first nightly win | Premier League Darts Night 15 – Birmingham
Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price both sealed qualification for the Premier League Darts Play-Offs at the O2 in two weeks’ time.
Match 1: Josh Rock vs Gian van Veen
Van Veen picked up an important two points in his hunt for a play-off spot.
The young Dutchman averaged over a ton in his clash with Josh Rock.
Rocky popped 121 in leg seven – but was unable to stop the world #3 reeling off the next three legs for a spot in the semi-final.
Result: Rock (92.30) 3-6 (102.14) van Veen
Match 2: Gerwyn Price vs Michael van Gerwen
Price took on van Gerwen in a huge clash in the play-off chase.
The Iceman looked back to his best after suffering from health issues in the last few weeks, hitting eight maximums to van Gerwen’s two.
Despite some excellent scoring, the Welsh #2 did miss 19 darts on the outer ring and was lucky to go unpunished.
After leading 3-1 in the first four legs, van Gerwen took a 4-3 lead.
Price, however, cemented a comeback himself, winning the next three legs for the match, pinning double-five to dent the Green Machine’s O2 hopes.
Result: Price (101.32) 6-4 (87.96) van Gerwen
Match 3: Luke Humphries vs Stephen Bunting
Cool Hand started the night in stellar fashion with a 107 average, absolutely walloping the Bullet.
Bunting had seven chances for a leg but failed to pin a double.
Cool Hand was in fine form on the doubles missing just four times.
The reigning Premier League champion pinned double-16 to end the tie.
Result: Humphries (107.36) 6-0 (92.46) Bunting
Match 4: Jonny Clayton vs Luke Littler
Littler kicked off the night with a whitewash win over the Ferret.
The Nuke was looking for his fourth nightly win on the spin and started in style.
Littler missed nine darts at double but wasn’t at all under pressure.
Clayton himself missed all five attempts on the outer ring.
Littler ended the game with a 115 to confirm his place as first in the table for the third year running.
Result: Clayton (93.07) 0-6 (100.20) Littler
Semi-final 1: van Veen vs Price
Price confirmed his Play-Off spot with a semi-final win over van Veen.
The Iceman was much improved on the outer ring, missing just three from nine attempts.
The pair both hit two 100+ checkouts a piece.
Price again came from 4-3 down to win 6-4 pinning double ten, to all but end van Veen’s chance of a spot at the O2.

Semi-final 2: Humphries vs Littler
Humphries finally got one over Littler after losing back-to-back finals to the Nuke.
Cool Hand averaged 111, throwing six 180’s.
The pair both missed ten darts at double but after being 3-0 behind, Humphries reeled off six legs to book his spot in a third successive final, still in search of that first nightly win.
Result: Humphries (110.98) 6-3 (99.86) Littler
Final: Price vs Humphries
Humphries sealed the night and his place at the O2 with a win over Price in the final.
The world #2 took an early 4-1 lead but was pegged back by Price.
The Iceman took out 130 in leg six for 4-2 and nearly sent the tie all the way.
The World #8 was left on 170 with Cool Hand on 117, Price smashed in the two trebles but narrowly missed the bull.
Humphries made no mistake cleaning up tops for 117 to get over the line.
The pair both celebrated together after both booking their spots in the final four.

The Premier League of Darts heads to Sheffield next Thursday for the final night of league phase action.
