Sunderland Manager Regis Le Bris reflects on a humbling night for the Black Cats.

The Sunderland manager seemed deflated after watching his side get beat 5-0 at home against relegation threatened Nottingham Forest.

Sunderland Manager Regis Le Bris’ opinion on the match: “When we are not at the level expected you get punished really quickly because they have good players and are well organised and pressed well, they were really efficient on set pieces.

“We tried to play under pressure, probably with a bit of naivety because it wasn’t possible, so the game was really open and we conceded first.”

Conceding from set pieces:

“Yeah, we have a set up with different layers I can’t say that it worked because it’s clear that they targeted thus area. Its not the first time this season to be fair and we thought about adaptations but today it didn’t work.”

Trying to look forward:

“You can’t complain, you can’t look for excuses, you just have to go forward and in the second half this was the ambition, at least a fight, at least show you have a strong energy, you are proud to be a Sunderland player and our fans they are behind us.

“Yeah, absolutely because we want to be competitive every game and it wasn’t the case today, hard to digest and hard to explain as well at the minute we’ll analyse deeply this game and try to go forward.

Tactical decisions:

“It was a tactical decision; I wanted to change the shape to give more intensity. It was the case in the second half, but we didn’t score.

“Trai did really well last week when he didn’t start so I think he deserved to start today and we have three strong fullbacks able to play.

“It’s hard to change in the second half, we did better, we had an opportunity to score.

“We had this feeling that it was possible to change something and after that it was hard enough from the bench to give something new, something different.”
