Seaton Carew Assistant Coach reflects on final home game of the season
Seaton Carew’s assistant coach Stephen Cockrill believed that a 2-2 draw against Richmond Town was a fair result, after Richmond scored inside two minutes of the first half.
Seaton went into this game as the confirmed champions of the Wearside Premier Division, whilst Richmond sit ninth in the table.
After the game, Cockrill said: “First half, we started slowly and gave a goal away early doors.
“But, after the first 20 minutes, we came into the game a bit more and deservedly equalised before half time.”
“The second half, we came out really well, and scored to make the game 2-1.”
“We made a couple of changes and then they equalised.”
“Our penalty save was a turning point for us, but we had two chances at the end and we didn’t take them, which was frustrating.”
“All in all, 2-2 was a fair result today.”
He then explained that Adam Stewart was “superb”, alongside other players that stood out for him today.
“Jack O’Gorman grew into the game quite a bit, certainly in the second half, grabbing a goal to send us into the lead, and had a couple of good chances before that.”
“Our centre forward Craig Linsel, he’s in a really good run of form at the moment, grabbing another goal today right at the end of the first half, so he’s doing really well for the club.”
“We are just looking forward to playing Northern League football next season.”
