Luke Littler picks up his fifth nightly win to move back to the top of the table: Premier League Darts Night 13 – Aberdeen 

Littler picks up back-to-back nightly wins and leapfrogs Jonny Clayton as he looks to finish top for the third campaign running. 

The Nuke eased past Josh Rock and Gerwyn Price before denying Luke Humphries his first nightly win coming from 5-3 down. 

 Match 1: Josh Rock vs Luke Littler 

After six holds of throw, Rock spurned a chance to break and go 4-3 up. The Northern Ireland #1 failed to capitalise, and the Nuke punished winning the next three legs to seal victory. 

The World #1 pinned tops to see off Rocky, who is yet to beat the Nuke in the PDC. Defeat all but ends Rock’s chances of a spot in London, whilst the already qualified Littler boosts his chances for a third consecutive first place finish.

Match 2: Stephen Bunting vs Gerwyn Price 

After losing three games on the bounce Price came from behind to boost his chances of a spot in the final four. The pair both held throw in the opening four legs, Stephen Bunting broke Price to go 3-2 up in leg five after the Iceman went inside on tops, the Bullet came back to the board and popped 36 at the first time of asking. 

The Bullet then took out 124 in leg eight to go 5-3 ahead. The Welsh #2 fired back and went seven into a nine in leg nine eventually taking out tops for 5-4. Bunting missed darts to win 6-4 as Price sent the tie to a decider.  

The Iceman came inside on double 18 and missed double nine allowing Bunting back to the board, but the world #9 couldn’t find the bull. Price punished and pinned double nine to secure two vital points and set up a sixth meeting with Luke Littler for the campaign.

Match 3: Jonny Clayton vs Gian van Veen 

Gian van Veen boosted his play-off hopes against league-leader Jonny Clayton. The world #3 went 3-0 up and missed bullseye for a 161 for 4-0, Clayton then cleaned up 88 to get a leg on the board. 

The Giant went 5-2 up in leg seven with an 11-darter taking out his beloved double 16. The Ferret the missed a dart at the same target to get a third leg, van Veen punished the Welsh #1 with a stunning 152 checkout for the match. 

Result: Jonny Clayton (95.14) 2-6 (104.32) Gian van Veen 

Match 4: Luke Humphries vs Michael van Gerwen 

Humphries also boosted his hopes for a spot at the O2 against fourth place Michael van Gerwen. The opening six legs saw six holds of throw with van Gerwen pinning the lesser spotted double seven in his opening two holds. The Green Machine then popped tops for a 114 for 3-3. 

However, Cool Hand battled on and despite numerous misses at the outer ring reeled off the following three legs to keep himself in the race with three weeks to go before finals night. 

Result: Luke Humphries (99.18) 6-3 (91.02) Michael van Gerwen 

Semi-final 1: Luke Littler vs Gerwyn Price  

Littler eased past Price in the semi-final to move level on points with Clayton following his defeat to van Veen.  

The Nuke pinned tops in leg two to break the Iceman early doors. Price took out double 10 to get a leg on the board in leg four but that’s all he would get. The World Champion took out double five for his sixth win in as many meetings with Price in this year’s Premier League. 

Price takes on Clayton next week in Leeds with the Iceman sat on 21 points and currently in third.

Semi-final 2: Gian van Veen vs Luke Humphries 

Cool Hand cemented his spot in just his second final of the campaign with a win over the young Dutchman. Humphries once again had problems on the outer ring missing six darts at double with van Veen 75% on the doubles however only had four attempts. 

Humphries pinned double 10 to go 3-2 up and stunned the Giant in leg nine pinning tops for a 160. The world #2 then ended proceedings with double eight to leapfrog van Veen in the table. 

Van Veen faces Bunting next Thursday evening. 

Result: Gian van Veen (102.67) 3-6 (101.80) Luke Humphries 

Final: Luke Littler vs Luke Humphries 

Littler took out tops to lead 1-0 in the third meeting in three weeks between the top two in the world. Humphries pinned the bullseye for a 130 in leg four to keep the scores level. The Nuke then went wide of the bull for the same shot in leg seven, Cool Hand took advantage taking out 36 for a break of throw and a 4-3 lead. 

Humphries then went 5-3 up and looked likely to pick up a first nightly win. The Nuke had other ideas taking out tops in leg nine and 32 in leg ten to send the tie to a last-leg decider. The 19-year-old took out his beloved double 10 for back-to-back nightly wins and his fifth of the tournament. Humphries is still yet to seal a nightly win as he looks to retain his title.

The Nuke takes on van Gerwen next week in Leeds, with Humphries hosting Rock on home-soil.
