Three Options to win the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble
The Royal Rumble is just 42 days away, and there are at least three good options to win the Royal Rumble match.
Now, for those who may still need to learn what the Royal Rumble match is, it is where two superstars will start in the ring, and every 90 seconds, a new entrant comes out until all 30 entrants have arrived. The aim is to throw the opponent over the top rope with both feet touching the floor.
The winner gets to face a champion of their choice at WrestleMania. Now, with that explained, let’s discuss the three options.
- Cody Rhodes

Since Cody Rhodes came back to WWE, he has aimed to finish the story by winning the championship that his late father (The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes) could not do, which is the WWE Championship that Roman Reigns currently holds.
Cody won this year’s Royal Rumble match by entering No.30 and returning from injury; he headlined WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns in a crazy match, which many (including myself) would have thought the grand finale of the Roman Reigns era. Still, to a surprise, Reigns retained the title.
But that wasn’t the end; Cody’s momentum has grown, people are singing his songs, and he has become more of a mainstream star similar to John Cena, which WWE had struggled to find until Cody returned to WWE in 2022.
The closing shot of WrestleMania 39 saw Reigns celebrate his victory at the top of the stage whilst also having a camera shot of a disappointed Rhodes in the middle of the ring. Rhodes will face Reigns in a rematch for the title because no one is as big as Rhodes to dethrone Reigns.
If it wasn’t clear enough, go back and check out a clip from the October 13th edition of Smackdown where Reigns and Cody came face to face.
Cody winning the Rumble for a 2nd year might be his only way to get towards Roman and his title. But it depends on whether WWE is willing to play a dangerous game and potentially have fans turn on Rhodes if he wins the Rumble on January 27th.
2. CM Punk

November 25th was the night CM Punk made a shocking return to WWE, and since then, he has generated a ton of buzz all over social media; merchandise sales are through the roof, and television ratings go up to high numbers whenever Punk appears.
But Punk winning the Rumble could lead to the one feud people are eager to see. Pro Wrestling truly excels when the lines are blurred between what’s real and what’s reality. Nothing gets closer to that than Seth Rollins and CM Punk.
Seth Rollins is currently the World Heavyweight Champion, and WWE has been trying to push that championship to be on the same level as Roman Reigns and the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship.
On the December 10th edition of Monday Night Raw, CM Punk came face to face with Seth Rollins, and that night, Punk declared his entry into the rumble match. Punk vs Rollins is worthy of a WrestleMania event.
Punk, the superstar with the most momentum right now, is an ideal candidate to win the match and have a tense showdown on the grandest stage of them all with the world heavyweight champion.
3. Sami Zayn

No one has had a year like Sami Zayn. From the chair shot heard around the world at this year’s rumble event to main eventing back-to-back Premium Live Events. Main eventing in Montreal, Canada and won the tag team titles in the main event of WrestleMania.
Sami Zayn has finally found himself after being on the main roster for six years. There is a story to tell about Sami Zayn, which they previously did with him back in NXT, which was winning the big one. Can he finally win a World Championship?
Sami Zayn winning the 2024 Royal Rumble match would be a valid reward for all the hard work he has put in these past two years. Zayn would then have a champion to fixate on.
Drew Mcintyre is scheduled to face Seth Rollins on RAW’s New Year’s Day edition for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The last few months have seen Drew Mcintyre embody more of an evil persona; he shows no remorse towards his opponents, doesn’t care what the fans think your typical villain in Professional Wrestling, but has shown more edge to his character.
They’ve recently done an injury angle between Drew Mcintyre and Sami Zayn, with Mcintyre injured. Zayn could make his triumphant return in the rumble match, winning it for the first time and going after McIntyre (that’s if he wins the World Championship).
He could face Seth Rollins, but there isn’t as strong of a story compared to what he could do with Drew; plus, with Seth’s title or no title, he’s going to be feuding with Punk.
Zayn has not been able to beat Drew McIntyre at all. Mcintyre can hold that against him, plus there’s also the fact that Drew never really got his WrestleMania moment.
Sami Zayn is a person there isn’t much talk about, and most of it is due to the return of CM Punk. Punk coming back has changed the conversation.
