Whitley Warriors Assistant Coach Robbie Pamphilon reacts to loss to Leeds Knights
Robbie Pamphilon said his squad “created enough chances to win the game” against the Leeds Knights despite a disappointing result.
The Warriors fell to their third defeat in their last four home games despite dominating the match. Four goals from Michael Danecko and two from Fritz Heinzle were enough to win the game 3-6 for the Knights.
Pamphilon said: “We created enough chances to win the game, but you have to have the ability to put them away.”
“You have to do the little things and we didn’t do that. We weren’t getting in front of the net, we weren’t winning rebounds, we weren’t winning battles. You don’t win games if you can’t do those things.”
The Warriors struggled to deal with the Knights’ on the break as the visitors notched four of their goals this way.
“We just switched off, we knew their winger was gonna cut through the middle, but there was a lack of concentration,” said Pamphilon.
The Warriors also failed to capitalise on the six power plays they got throughout the game.
Pamphilon said: “We need to simplify it. I think we tried to make it too complicated and forced plays. Keep it simple, pucks in net.
“I think we dominated the game, controlled the puck, limited their chances and we had a lot of chances. It’s just those fine lines, that one or two percent either way.”
