WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Predictions
In the Final premium live event of the year WWE are presenting Saturday Night’s Main Event which will be headlined by the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes Defending against the Prizefighter Kevin Owens.
A card that is stacked with title matches is looking to be the final curtain call on which has been a fantastic year for WWE and here are my Predictions for the card on Saturday Night.
Sami Zayn vs Drew McIntyre
This match has the potential to be the show stealer of the night between long time rivals Sami Zayn and Drew McIntyre. As this week, since McIntyres’s return on the December 2nd edition of Monday Night Raw, Drew has attacked Zayn multiple times slandering Zayn for reuniting with Roman Reigns at the Survivor Series Premium Live Event 2 weeks ago.
Last Night on Raw Drew once again attacked Zayn although this time Zayn fought back with a backstage brawl ensuing. This led to Raw General Manager Adam Pearce booking the match for the Premium Live Event this Saturday between the two Rivals.
With this feud just starting to gain traction I am predicting that Drew McIntyre will walk out with the victory on Saturday as I believe in order to keep Drew’s momentum going that he has had in the last few months there is no other option than a victory for the Scotsman on Saturday Night.
Although Sami would benefit from a win here I believe Drew needs the win a little bit more to build his stock back up a little bit more after the loss in the Hell In a Cell match to CM Punk back at Bad Blood in October.
WWE Women’s World Championship Match:
Liv Morgan vs IYO Sky
After winning a No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal on the November 4th Edition of Monday Night Raw, IYO Sky earned the opportunity to face Champion Liv Morgan this Saturday in what is expected to be a fantastic match between the two women. Sky has been desperate to get back in the title picture after losing her WWE Women’s Championship to Bayley at WrestleMania in one of the women’s matches of the year.
Sky and Morgan have come across each other a lot in recent weeks of TV and on premium live events as the genius of the sky was in the Women’s Wargames match at Survivor Series where Team Rhea (Rhea Ripley, IYO Sky, Bianca Belair, Naomi and Bayley) defeated Team Liv ( Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton and Candice LeRae) in a grueling match in November.
However last week on the December 2nd edition of Monday Night Raw Sky lost in a tag team match against Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez with Sky and her partner Kairi Sane unable to come out on top against the Women’s World Champion.
Can Sky beat the odds on Saturday Night and claim World Title Gold for the second time in her career? Unfortunately I think IYO will just miss out as I think that Liv Morgan will come out on top and retain her Women’s World Championship.
Although I believe Sky needs this win more it is clear that the direction the company wants for WrestleMania is for Morgan to face long time rival Rhea Ripley in a feud that has been going on for over 6 months. It is because of this factor that I see no other outcome than Liv Morgan retaining her title on Saturday night.
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match:
Gunther vs Finn Balor vs Damian Priest
To add to this already great card this Triple Threat match between these three talents has potential to be an unbelievable match if booked correctly. The original match which was booked for the Premium Live Event on Saturday was set to be Finn Balor vs Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. However on the December 9th edition of Raw General Manger Adam Pearce again made another addition to this match by adding Damian Priest who is a rival to both members in this match.
Priest and Balor have been feuding for months with Balor costing Priest the world title at Summerslam back in August which allowed Gunther to beat Priest to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.
Priest and Balor used to be apart of The Judgement Day together until Summerslam where Balor betrayed him and kicked him out of the faction. This all led to a match at Bad Blood in October where Damian and Finn were set to settle their differences once and for all where Priest came out on top.
Many fans thought that this was the end of the feud between the former friends but that was only until Priest earned his rematch for the World Heavyweight Title on Raw in a Fatal 4 Way Match. Winning this match earned Priest another shot at Gunther at the Survivor Series for the title but Balor once again interfered in the bout and cost Damian the title once again.
Gunther has been enraged in the last few weeks with Balor constantly interfering in his matches and not letting him get a clean victory over Priest. In recent weeks Balor has started attacking Gunther on Raw leading to the match being booked between the two and Priest being added on the recent episode of Raw.
The feud between Balor and Priest has dragged on for a long time and fans do believe that the rivalry has become stale and not interesting due to the strong overbooking of Priest which has led to Balor looking weak. WWE have tried to make Finn look stronger in recent weeks by having him attack Gunther and Priest but this seems to be too little to late as the damage to his overall character has already been done.
My prediction for this match is that Gunther will retain his title as I believe that the feud between Balor and Priest has almost been forced into the World Championship picture in order for fans to care about the feud. Gunther needs to win the match in order to once again rise his stock and solidify him as a dangerous World Champion.
Undisputed WWE Championship Match:
Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens
This bout between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens is one of the most highly anticipated matches in a long time. Rhodes and Owens first faced off with each other back in August at WWE Premium Live Event Bash In Berlin where they stole the show in an incredible match which kicked off the show. Rhodes ultimately came out victorious but Owens put on a fantastic display nearly putting the champion away multiple times but couldn’t pull the trigger when he needed to.
In the match Rhodes injured his leg however due to being close friends, Kevin did not want to attack his leg which led to him losing the match as he missed out on that opportunity. At the Bad Blood Premium Live Event in October Cody teamed with his long time rival Roman Reigns against The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu) this angered Owens as Roman had attacked Owens for years and saw this as a betrayal by the Champion.
Owens attacked Rhodes in the car park after the match betraying his friend and making a statement to the champion. In recent weeks this feud has been booked brilliantly with Rhodes and Owens producing some of their best work with unbelievable segments on weekly TV which has developed the feud and allowed the audience to see where Owens hatred toward The American Nightmare has come from.
Will Owens finally finish the job on Rhodes and capture World Championship Gold for the first time in seven years? I believe that Owens will not be able to get the job done and the Undisputed WWE Champion Rhodes will retain his title.
