Boldon fall to defeat at the hands of Redcar Town after 8-goal thriller.

Redcar Town ended Boldon’s 3 game winning run with a 5-3 victory at the Boldon Colliery Welfare Ground.
The momentum of the match shifted throughout with Redcar Town taking control of the match within the first half. They led 3-1 at the break via a Jos Storr brace on 17 and 26 and Connor Smith adding a third after 40, just two minutes after Jolas Sutherland halved the deficit.
Boldon fought back in the second half with two goals in one minute.Sam Watts and debutant, Oly Bell scored in the 66th and 67th to equalise. However, Redcar Town rallied once again, putting the game to bed through Jamie Lee and Storr who completed his hattrick seven minutes before time.
The match started with Boldon looking to pick up where they left off after an inspiring victory over Whitley Bay during the week.
Corey Johns squandered a chance to give Boldon an early lead after three minutes.
Redcar Town took the lead not long after, with Storr placing the ball past Boldon’s Oliver Walker, who despite the scoreline, performed very well between the sticks for the Villa.
The visitors didn’t relent, quickly adding their second through Storr again who was calmness personified throughout the afternoon, as he slotted home to offer a comfortable cushion in the scoreline.
Boldon didn’t give up, with Sutherland pouncing on a loose ball and poking it under the goalkeeper to restore some belief.
Despite Boldon’s lifeline, Redcar Town restored their two-goal lead almost immediately as Smith finished calmly for the away team.
Boldon created numerous chances in the second half, however for large parts of the match struggled to really test the keeper. This changed when Watts prodded home after another scramble in the Redcar Town box. This was quickly followed by Bell who scored the goal of the game, cutting inside before lashing the ball into the top corner.
With the scores tied, and Boldon with sky-high confidence, you would be forgiven for expecting Boldon to go on to win the match, however Lee came up with the goods to retake the lead, and Storr completed his hat-trick after a mazy run inside Boldon’s penalty area, putting the game beyond doubt.
A thrilling encounter in the Northern League Division Two and up next for Boldon is an away trip to Prudhoe this Saturday.
