Hebburn made to rue missed chances as Hyde take all three points

Hebburn Town 0-2 Hyde United

Hyde United won for the first time in two games, moving into the top ten following goals from Ayo Quadri in the 61st minute and Matt Fearnley in the 85th minute.

Hebburn Town, meanwhile, were searching for their first win at home since New Year’s Day.

The hosts won a free kick early on. Liam Noble delivered a cross into the United Half, and Matthew Elsdon headed towards goal, but the Tigers cleared their lines, and despite appeals from Hebburn players who thought it crossed the line, the score remained 0-0.

Then, United’s Dan Savage gained possession of the ball and whipped in a cross. Olly Martin headed it on target. However, Hiddleston tipped it over.

United then nearly took the lead. Sinfield was through on goal and capitalised on Jack Donaghy’s slip, but his shot sailed over.

Hebburn’s Joao Games had a chance to score from close range at the end of the first half, but his effort flew over the crossbar.

Just after the hour mark Quadri struck the top left corner with a curled effort, beating Hunter, putting the visitors ahead.

The home side looked to respond quickly; Joe Posthill squared a ball for Murray, who struck the ball inches away from the post.

The game began to open up as Hyde had a big chance in the Hebburn half; they rattled the crossbar as Quadri delivered a powerful shot.

With Hebburn pushing for an equaliser and Hyde looking to kill the game, United won a corner. Quadri crossed the ball into the box and Fearnley tapped it in to put the result beyond doubt.
