Match Report: Newcastle United 1-2 Bournemouth
Newcastle lose their fourth game in a row against Bournemouth as their European dreams slip away.
James Tavernier put the away side in front, in the first half. William Oscula got his name on the scoresheet, equalising for the home side.
Adrien Truffaut won the game for the Cherries, in the 85th minute.
In the fourth minute of the game, Bournemouth looked most promising in breaking the deadlock. Marco Sensei’s header from inside the box was caught by Magpie goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale.
A few minutes later the home side missed a great chance, a brilliant run and pass from Osula found Harvey Barnes, but his shot is forced wide.
In the early parts of the first half, the game was evenly matched, particularly in the middle of the park.
In the 32nd minute of the game, Tavernier puts Bournemouth 1-0 up. A brilliant run and low driven cross from Eli Kroupi, means the wingers job was easy.
Just before the referee called for half time, the away side had another chance to double their lead, as the Newcastle defence failed to clear the ball from the danger area.
Bournemouth started the second half well, forcing Sven Botman and Malik Thiaw to make vital interventions.
In the 68th minute, Osula equalises for the magpies from a through ball from Bournemouth striker, Evanilson. After a long VAR check, the goal was found legal.
For 15 minutes, the game opened up, both teams had great chances to put themselves up and the referee tried to control the game, handing out three yellow cards.
In the 85th minute of the game, Truffert broke the deadlock for the Cherries. A well worked passing routine found the fullback free, as he struck gold.
Eddie Howe’s desperate substitutions of Nick Woltemade and Bruno Guimaraes, proved not clinical enough, as the game was lost.
The result means Bournemouths European push is alive but looks very unlikely for the Magpies.
