Lang Jacks look to claim back-to-back away league victories
Whickham return to league action on Saturday following a two-week break, the Lang Jacks claimed all three points away to Crook Town last time out.
Penrith also claimed a second win on the bounce following an impressive 2-0 away victory against an inform West Allotment Celtic side last Saturday.
The home team have won their last two league games, keeping two clean sheets in the process.
Their recent run of good form has allowed them to move away from the relegation zone following four straight defeats.
The away team welcome back Kaleb Young, Connor Elliott, David Below, Dom Agnew and Scott Jasper having all been cup tied for the Durham Challenge cup defeat to Spennymoor Town.
Tony Fawcett also has striker Zak Atkinson available following suspension. While midfielder Conor Newton, defender George Priest and striker Jack Robson remain doubts.
The match however comes to soon for new signing Rhys Williams.
Whickham will be looking to return to the First Mortgage Glebe with all three points and keep the pressure on the teams above them.
The Lang Jacks have won seven of their last nine league games under Fawcett, keeping six clean sheets along the way.
The last time the teams met came in August when Whickham ran out comfortable 2-0 winners thanks to a goal from Dale Burrell.
Assistant Manager Simon Moody spoke about the team’s trip to Penrith he said: “They’ve had a little bit of a hard time at the moment, but again they are not to be underestimated.
“I watched them against Whitley Bay earlier on in the season and they were really good.
“They’re a strong physical side and quite a young side which again will be a challenge, but every game in the Northern League is a challenge.
“What you will get from us is maximum commitment, maximum effort and a bit of quality that will hopefully give us the win.”
