As Newcastle United head into next season, five players won’t be in the dressing room come August as we look at who departs Tyneside.

1. Matt Ritchie

Number one on the list is the right midfielder, Matt Ritchie. Ritchie signed for the club back in 2016 and was part of the Championship winning side that won back promotion that year.

Making 215 appearances for the club, the Scotsman managed 25 goals and 32 assists during his time on Tyneside.

2. Kell Watts

The second man on the list who won’t be getting a new contract is Kell Watts. The 24-year-old who spent last season on loan at Wigan will be in search of a new club.

Watts, who has played 64 times between the Newcastle U18s and U21s, scoring 13 goals in the process.

3. Jeff Hendrick

Third on the list is former Ireland international, Jeff Hendrick. The 32- 32-year-old joined Newcastle in the summer of 2020, spending a very sporadic four years on Tyneside.

Playing 27 times for the Magpies, Hendrick played his football this season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday.

4. Loris Karius

The penultimate name that won’t be getting his contract renewed is Loris Karius. Known by many for his blunder in the Champions League final with Liverpool six years ago, Karius’ time on Tyneside was short, coming in as third-choice goalkeeper.

Playing only two games for the club, but arguably playing one of the most important games for the club in the last 20 years, the German was between the sticks for Newcastle United’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester United.

5. Paul Dummett

The final man on the list is defender, Paul Dummett. The 32-year-old has spent his whole career at Newcastle United signing for the club at the age of eight.

Playing 213 times for the Magpies, Dummett, who has scored four goals in his senior career, departs his boyhood club winning the Championship in 16/17.
