Match Preview: Newcastle United U21 Vs Manchester United U21
Newcastle United U21s look to make it three league wins on the bounce as they host Manchester United U21s on Saturday afternoon at the Newcastle United Football Academy.
Going into the game, just one point separates the two sides in the Premier League 2 table, with both winning three out of their opening six games. Both sides currently sit in the qualification stage of the table, Newcastle being 7th and Manchester United sitting in 11th.
Last time out –
In their last game in the Premier League 2, Newcastle came out narrow winners as they defeated Aston Villa 2-3 due to a brace from Ben Parkinson. Newcastle found themselves ahead early on, only to be trailing 2-1 at the early stages of the second half. However, two goals in five minutes from Parkinson and defender Cathal Heffernan saw Newcastle turn the game around and claim all three points at the Bodymoor Heath Training Ground.
As for Manchester United, they lost 0-1 last time out, after a 67th minute winner from Tyler Morton saw Liverpool pick up three points at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium.

The last time the two sides met saw Manchester United win 3-2 in a narrow affair.
James Nolan opened the scoring in the first minute of the game only for Newcastle to bounce back two minutes later through midfielder James Huntley. Manchester United regained the lead from the penalty spot after 16 minutes through current Wigan Athletic player Joe Hugill. Newcastle responded again in the second half after a goal from Dylan Stephenson. The winner came from former Newcastle United youth product Shola Shoretire after 58 minutes.
Team News –
Newcastle come into the game full strength and full of confidence after their positive start to the campaign. While The Red Devils have one injury concern as Daniel Gore is likely to miss the game because of a shoulder injury.
Players to watch –
Top goal scorer Parkinson is one to watch for Newcastle as the striker has three goals in his opening six league games this season. Goal scoring midfielder Jay Turner-Cook is also a threat for the young Magpies. Manchester United trio Harry Amass, Toby Collyer and Ethan Wheatley are the main threats as they have all already grabbed themselves experience at senior level.
