Can Hebburn get promoted this season?

Hebburn Town have had a season to remember in the Northern Premier Division which sees them sit in top spot with just over 10 games still to play.

Daniel Moore’s side currently sit on 55 points from 29 games, a point ahead of Hednesford who have also played a game more.

In the NPL Premier Division only one team is promoted automatically which means that to be promoted to the National League North, Hebburn have to finish first.

Should Moore’s side fail to top the league, they can still get promoted through the Play-Offs if they finish between second and fifth.

In their first season back in the Premier Division, they finished in 14th,  17 points adrift of the play-off positions and 10 points clear of relegation.

Hebburn have shown excellent consistency so far this season winning nine games in a row at one point, while only being defeated once all season at home, so they have the ability to do so.

So far this season, Hebburn have had an exceptional defence with nine clean sheets so far.

Their key defenders Aiden Heywood, Matty Elsdon, Jack Donaghy and Michael Turner have been crucial in this defensive record becoming solid and like a brick wall at the back – and when they are breached, Sunderland loanee, Dan Cameron, has been brilliant helping out the defence if needed.

Hebburn’s attack has been impressive as well, with league top scorer and former Europa League striker, Gary Martin always being a handful to defenders, while Liam Murray has also helped out on the wing.

In their nine game winning run Hebburn had scored 28 goals while only conceding an incredible three goals.

Following their nine game winning streak, Hebburn have creditable draws against promotion rivals, Hednesford, Warrington Rylands and FC United, which has seen them maintain their slender lead at the top, in the space of a week.

This season Hebburn has made the TrustMark Group Stadium a fortress, last losing there in the opening weekend of the season against fellow promotion hopefuls, Hednesford – and they recently announced plans to make a new South Stand for next season.

So Can They Do It?

When adding up the amount of positive statistics Hebburn have at the moment, there is a huge possibility that they can gain promotion, as they are keeping goals out while scoring themselves and have made their home a fortress as well as earning key results against their promotion rivals.
