Northallerton Town Vs Newcastle Benfield match preview

Newcastle Benfield return to action away from home against Northallerton Town in Northern League action tomorrow afternoon.

Last time out…

Benfield were beaten for the first time since October losing 2-0 at home to Boro Rangers. Boro showed why they’re promotion contenders with a strong performance away from home. Andy Ferguson will be looking for a response from his side in tomorrow’s game.

Previous meeting…

The Ally ran riot at the start of September beating Benfield 4-0 at the MKM Stadium, thanks to a 24-minute hattrick from Alistair Banks. The Lions will be looking to seek revenge on Northallerton and put on a good display in tomorrow’s match.

Where the sides sit…

Benfield sit 11th in the league and are looking to regain momentum to move up the table after a disappointing loss last weekend.

The Ally are 15th in the table and have 30 points from 24 games. Northallerton haven’t played since early December when they were beaten 6-0 by Shildon.

Jason Newall’s side have had plenty time to reflect on that defeat as they look for a reaction against Benfield.

Leo’s prediction…

“Both teams will be wounded after defeats in their previous games and will be looking to give a response. Northallerton will have a point to prove after their game against Shildon and what better way to show that than against an inform Newcastle Benfield side.

“Benfield will also want to get back to winning ways after losing last weekend and if they want to gain any sort of momentum again, they can’t afford to drop points tomorrow and fall into a poor spell in this busy Christmas period.

“It will be a very cagey game with high physicality levels and both teams going for the three points. However, I think Benfield will just edge it 2-1.”
