Match Report: Esh Winning vs Prudhoe YC Seniors
Esh Winning 0-3 Prudhoe YC Seniors
Prudhoe YC Seniors ended their 14-game winless run in the Ebac Northern League Division Two with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Esh Winning, climbing out of the relegation zone in the process.

Connor Lane gave Prudhoe an early lead, before Liam Dalton doubled the YC’s advantage at the half-hour mark. Midway into the second period, Jay Plunkett made it three as the Northumberland side earned a first league win since beating high-flying Yarm & Eaglescliffe 2-1 in October.
Esh Winning, who sit at the bottom of the table, ended a run of eight straight league losses with a 2-1 home victory against play-off hopefuls FC Hartlepool last weekend, while the visitors came to the Lumsden & Carroll Community Arena hoping to break a goal drought of three matches.
Five minutes into the match, Lane opened the scoring for the Seniors – emphatically firing into the top-left corner from inside the box with his first-time strike.
Not long after, Prudhoe almost doubled the lead when Thomas Wilson’s close-range attempt hit the crossbar, after latching onto Kieron Symington’s ball into the box.
But the Seniors found their second on 30 minutes – Freddie Marr’s inswinging corner was tipped away by Taylor Bell only to Dalton, whose powerful volley smashed home.
Following a quiet opening to the second period, the visitors threatened against just before the hour mark. After being slipped through by Wilson, Symington rounded Bell but saw his final effort ricochet off the post, then stopped by a goal-line clearance.
Ten minutes later, Wilson hit the crossbar once more, seeing a curling strike searching for the top-right corner rattle the woodwork.
Shortly after, though, it was three for Prudhoe – Fin Baty’s inviting delivery was met by Plunkett, rising highest to arrow his header home into the bottom-right corner.
The visitors continued to probe and could have had a fourth just before injury time. Harry Marr expertly released Michael Wright down the left-hand side, with the forward driving into the box before cutting back to Owen Kingsland, whose low shot was blocked on the line.
