Preview: Wolves Vs Sunderland
Wolverhampton Wanderers host Sunderland at Molineux Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Already relegated Wolves will look to end their season in good form as they prepare for life in the Championship next season. Sunderland currently sit in 12th position but still have a chance to secure European qualification if they end the season well.
Last time out –
Wolves have lost their previous three Premier League matches, last time out falling 1-0 at home to a struggling Tottenham Hotspur.
Sunderland are coming into this game in indifferent form but having just received their biggest defeat under boss Regis Le Bris, losing 5-0 to Nottingham Forest at the Stadium of Light, the Black Cats will be looking to bounce back, and get their European charge back on.
Previous Meetings –
The two sides met in the Premier League this season for the first time since 2011/2012.
The reverse fixture at the Stadium of Light in October was a comfortable 2-0 win for Le Bris’ side, with a goal from fullback Nordi Mukiele and an own goal from Wolves defender Ladislav Krejci.
Team News –
Wolves come into this match with a squad close to full fitness, they will be without goalkeeper Sam Johnstone who is suffering with a shoulder injury.
Ladislav Krejci is a doubt after coming off with an injury against Leeds at Elland Road two weeks ago. Yerson Mosquera returns from suspension. Sunderland’s squad is looking healthier going into this match, with numerous players looking to return from injury.
Jocelin Ta Bi, Bertrand Traore, and Nilson Angulo could all feature after a period of time on the sidelines.
Romaine Mundle remains out with a hamstring injury.
Players to watch –
Midfield duo Joao Gomes and Andre remain the standouts for Wolves, and will likely remain in the Premier League next season.
Captain Granit Xhaka is still heavily relied upon in this Sunderland squad, While striker Brian Brobbey is always a handful for the opposition defence.
Kickoff from Molineux Stadium is at 3pm on Saturday afternoon as the Black Cats hope to edge closer to European football.
