“We can go all the way”, NCL Vikings (Overwatch 2) Team Captain discusses season so far
The NCL Vikings Overwatch 2 Team Captain Andrew says his side can go all the way.
The NCL Vikings Overwatch 2 head into the winter break 8th in the Overwatch 2 Table for student champs in British Esports, having won 5 games this season and suffering only two defeats.
The team captain commented on their campaign, “Put quite a lot of work in; we’ve been scrimmaging with other teams whenever we get the chance; we’ve been ranked whenever we get the chance, and the two games we have lost, they’ve been to incredibly good teams.”
The Vikings will advance into the elimination rounds following the Christmas break and look for a chance to make it into the top 16. Andrew touched on this team’s chances:
“I think we can go all the way if we put the effort in and play well together throughout the season.”
The Vikings have lost twice this season; when Andrew was asked if it affected the team, he said,
“I don’t think they have negatively affected the team’s confidence as I think it’s just allowed us to learn what we’ve actually got to learn. It’s helped us figure out that we could be better and have areas to improve in.
Most sports have short breaks between fixtures, and athletes tend to continue playing for other clubs. The British Esports is now on break, and fixtures don’t restart until after Christmas.
However, Andrew spoke on how his side can keep this form over the break:
“Just keep playing in scrims, keep the team happy, keep everyone playing together, make sure everyone is ready to come back .”
Selection has not been a problem either for the Vikings:
“This season, we’ve just put out the same team as last year but filled in some gaps as some people have had to leave.”
The NCL Vikings made the quarter-finals of the Northern Division 1 side of the tournament; they’ll be aiming to go further than that this season:
“The rest of the season is to keep doing as well as we can, keep beating the teams who are better than us and learning whatever we can along the way and to go all the way. “
